01 · The classes

What short courses does The Chef School offer?

The Chef School runs three four-hour, hands-on short courses in Krugersdorp: Pasta & Focaccia from Scratch, Danish Pastries with Ancient Grains & Pastrex, and Baking with Ancient Grains. Chef Minnie Brink teaches every class in the school's professional kitchen, and each course bakes with Ancient Grains from Miracle Meel instead of ordinary flour.

The classes suit home cooks who want more confidence, food lovers looking for a different kind of morning out, and teams who want a hands-on way to spend four hours together. You take home what you make.

03 · Groups

Team building and private groups.

Any of the short courses works well for a corporate team, a staff outing or a year-end function. Everyone shares a bench, follows the same steps and leaves with something they made themselves, which makes it a genuinely hands-on way to build a team.

It also suits smaller private groups: a club, a school group, a birthday or a kitchen tea. Ask us about group sizes and we will help you choose the right course.

Short course questions

How long is a short course?

Each class runs for four hours.

Do I need any cooking experience?

No. The short courses are designed for home cooks and food lovers of every level.

What should I bring?

Closed shoes and long hair tied back. We confirm anything else you need when you book.

Can I book a class for my team?

Yes. Short courses work well for team building, corporate groups and small group celebrations. Contact us to arrange a private booking, or read how our team building classes work.

Where are the classes held?

At The Chef School, 2 Du Plessis Street, Oatlands, Krugersdorp.

What are ancient grains?

Ancient grains are grain varieties that have changed little over time. Our short courses bake with Miracle Meel, a flour made from ancient grains including amaranth and barnyard millet, instead of ordinary wheat flour.

Is it normal flour?

No. Miracle Meel is milled from ancient grains rather than wheat. Every dough in every short course is made entirely with Ancient Grains, with no wheat flour.
